Two people died and more than a dozen were displaced at a senior high-rise housing complex fire in North Bergen early Thursday, April 3, officials said. The blaze broke out at Collum Towers, bringing the Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force, North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue, and the North Bergen Police Department to the scene. A 24-year-old woman killed in a hit-and-run crash while crossing Nesconset Highway in Lake Grove has been identified, Suffolk County Police announced on Sunday, Feb. 2. Sampada Aduulla, of Lake Grove, was struck by an eastbound vehicle near Hallock Road at 6:20 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, police said. The driver fled the scene. Aduulla was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the police.
