Newark First City In NJ Offering Free Lawyers For Renters Facing Eviction Newark has officially become just the third city in the country to offer pro bono legal services for low-income tenants facing eviction, officials announced this week. City native and attorney Khabirah Myers heads up the Office of Tenant Legal Services, which opened Wednesday. She has already met with residents since she was hired in April. The office, which will work with attorneys offering their services for free, will assist low-income residents facing unwarranted or illegal evictions. Kirk's Auto Center, Goodyear Evicted From Hackensack Location Kirk's Auto Center, once a Hackensack institution, has been evicted from its River Street location. An April 17 (Tuesday) eviction notice from the county was posted on the door of the Goodyear store for Hackensack Tire Corps. Customers who pulled up looking for service found the building closed and dark, inventory still inside. Daily Voice left a message Tuesday afternoon for the Hackensack Chamber of Commerce.  Kirk's Auto Repair and Goodyear Tire have several other area locations in Bergenfield, Englewood and Westwood.
