A man with a metal pipe caused significant damage at Borough Hall in Red Bank on Friday, March 20, authorities said.
At 9:11 p.m., a man used the pipe, which was five feet in length on four front windows at the borough hall on Monmouth Street, in the finance office area, Borough Manager James Gant said.
Police responded to the scene and issued commands to the man, who was not identified by authorities, but the orders were not followed, Gant said. Police tased the man and took him into custody, Gant said.

Escaped Convict Eludes Capture Again In Fairfield County Chase, Police Say
Police spent hours searching for an escaped convict who was a passenger in an alleged stolen vehicle in Fairfield County.
The incident began around 10:47 a.m., Monday, April 5, when a Greenwich Police detective spotted a suspected stolen vehicle in February from Cos Cos Avenue while on South Beach Avenue, said Greenwich Police Captain Mark Zuccerella.
The detective put out a call to patrol officers who began looking for the vehicle, Zuccerella said.
The vehicle was located again near Westcott, confirmed to be the stolen vehicle from Cos Cob Av, and stopped, he said.
