Eddie Negron, Longtime North Jersey Detective, Dies At 46 Eddie Negron, a longtime police officer who worked in East Newark and the Essex County Prosecutor's Office, died on Saturday Feb. 10 in Philadelphia at the age of 46, according to his obituary. Born in Hoboken, Negron joined the East Newark Police Department in July 1998 and moved to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office as a detective in 2005, later achieving the rank of sergeant.   Negron retired in 2022 when he had a double-lung transplant after contracting COVID-19.  Negron also served in the East Newark Fire Department. Click here for more.  Two men jumped out of a car on Ferry Street Sunday morning in Newark and robbed a passerby, WABC 7 reported.  Surveillance video shows the woman getting pistol-whipped by one of the assailants before both jump back in the car. The woman was unhurt.  Police believe the Newark robbery may be connected to robberies the same day in Kearny and East Newark. One person, a 17-year-old, was arrested in East Newark but two are still at large.
