Authorities in Morris County are investigating the death of a 6-month-old infant on Wednesday, July 17. Police were called to a parking lot near South Ridgedale Avenue at Route 10 in East Hanover around 1:30 p.m. where they found the baby girl in a parked vehicle, Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll said. Paramedics attempted to render lifesaving aid and the baby was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. A 79-year-old East Hanover resident was sentenced to 15 years in jail on Friday, July 12 after pleading guilty to shooting his wife in the head in 2020, authorities said. A 39-year-old Jersey City man was sentenced to 28 years in prison on Friday, May, 10, for robbing a Best Buy at knifepoint in Morris County in 2022. On May 28, 2022, Michael Guirguis entered a Best Buy in East Hanover and removed iPads and iPods from a display table worth $4,500. An emergency gas leak shut down a Morris County intersection and evacuated two homes on Friday, May 26, according to police and developing reports. Initial and unconfirmed reports said a gas line was struck on Mt. Pleasant Avenue in East Hanover around 10:30 a.m., requiring crews to clear two homes. Driver Killed In Morris County Crash On Route 280: State Police
A 58-year-old driver died in a Sunday morning crash on Route 280, authorities said. The crash occurred in the westbound lanes near milepost 2.2 in East Hanover around 11:25 a.m., NJSP Sgt. Philip Curry told Daily Voice. A Hyundai passenger vehicle driven by Nathaniel Gardiner ran off the right side of the road and down a grass embankment before hitting a tree, Curry said. Gardiner, of Bloomfield, was killed in the crash. The incident remained under investigation. Additional details were not released.
