A 27-year-old Connecticut woman is accused of ripping off a Fairfield County family for more than $35,000 in stolen items and money illegally charged on their credit card, authorities said.
Fairfield County resident Brigid Stanley, of Stamford, is charged with first-degree theft, illegal taking of a payment card, spending more than $500 on a revoked payment card, first-degree identity theft, and third-degree forgery, her arrest report shows.

Pair Nabbed In Card Skimming Scheme On Long Island, Police Say
A Long Island man and a man from Romania were arrested on charges including scheme to defraud for allegedly using card skimming devices at multiple grocery stores.
Nassau County Police arrested Marius Adrian Dobre, age 27, and Paul Mihaita Tudor, age 30, on Thursday, May 2 following an investigation.
Authorities said Tudor, who is from Ridgewood, Queens, and Dobre, who is a Romanian national, placed card-skimming devices on credit card terminals at grocery stores across Nassau County.
Luckily, the devices were discovered before any information was stolen.

Florida Pals Spent 2 Years Breaking Into Cars At Fairfax County Parks: Cops
A pair of Florida pals were arrested in connection with a series of vehicle break-ins at numerous Fairfax County parks, police said.
David Daniel Moraga-Nunez, 43 and Jonny Marcelo Sandoval-Barraza, 38, broke into countless vehicles between May 2022 and March 2024, stealing and using credit cards at various stores, county police said.
Nunez and Barraza were identified as suspects using surveillance footage, license plate reader technology, and a review of credit card transactions. Police say they broke into cars at Hemlock Park, Fountain Head Park, and Burke Lake Park.

It was a busy February for the Newark police.
Ten people were arrested on outstanding warrants in the city, ranging from aggravated assault to being in possession of a handgun, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé said.
Brenda Velasquez, a 46-year-old Kearney resident, was arrested on Wednesday, Feb. 7 after a warrant was issued for her arrest on charges of aggravated assault and weapon possession following an altercation with a woman in January, Fragé said.
