Arrest Made In Stamford Hit-Run That Killed Local Woman A Fairfield County man has been charged in a hit-run crash last year that killed a 74-year-old woman. The crash occurred in Stamford around 6:15 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2023, on West Main St., near the junction with Alvord Lane. Stamford Police Sgt. Jeffrey Booth said at the time of the crash, Marie Jean-Charles, a 74-year-old Stamford resident, was crossing West Main Street from north to south.  She was struck in the eastbound travel lanes by a vehicle traveling at what is believed to be a high rate of speed, Booth said. Man, 60, Killed When Motorcycle Crashes Into Road Sign In Fairfield County A 60-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Northern Fairfield County. The crash happened just after 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 1 on a stretch of Route 35 in Ridgefield, police said. The victim, identified as John Lienhardt, 60, of Cos Cob, was traveling eastbound when his motorcycle went off the roadway, striking a road sign, Ridgefield Police said. He was then treated at the scene and transported to the Danbury Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.  The investigation is ongoing.

Jimil Gaskins, 24, of Washington Boulevard, Stamford, was picked up by Greenwich Police on a warrant following an investigation into a commercial burglary at a business in Cos Cob on Jan. 28, Slusarz said. He was arrested on Tuesday, May 28, at the Stamford Police Department, and charged with one count of burglary. Gaskins is being held on $50,000 bond, which he was unable to make.
