Despite seeing nearly 2,000 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Hudson Valley, the overall positive infection rate in the region continues trending in the right direction after spiking earlier this month following the holiday season.
In the Hudson Valley, the positive infection rate dipped from 7.13 percent on Monday, Jan. 18 to 7.0 percent the following day, down to 6.98 percent on Wednesday, Jan. 20, while the statewide average is at 6.23 percent, down from 6.34 percent during that time span.

Covid-19: Here's Brand-New Breakdown Of Cases In Sullivan, Ulster Counties
New COVID-19-related deaths were reported in both Ulster and Sullivan counties as the area continues combating nearly 2,800 active cases of the virus.
Eighteen new virus-related deaths in Ulster brought the death toll in the county to 181, while Sullivan reported one new fatality this week, as the total rose to 59 since the pandemic began last year.
On Wednesday, Jan. 20, the Ulster County Department of Health is monitoring 2,429 active COVID-19 cases, up approximately 500 from Friday, Jan. 15, while there are 314 active cases in Sullivan, down from 314 last week.

Connecticut saw 76 new COVID-19-related deaths over the weekend bringing the total number during the pandemic to 6,670, according to new data reported on Monday, Jan. 18.
Since Friday, Jan. 15, 138,085 tests were administered with 6,703 coming back positive for a positive-test rate of 4.85.
A total of 1,114 patients are currently hospitalized with COVID statewide, an increase of 16.

Long Island saw a new increase in the number of new COVID-19 infections as well as the positive-test rate, according to information released by state health officials on Monday, Dec. 28.
There were 1,037 new COVID-19 cases in Suffolk and 999 in Nassau on Sunday, Dec. 27, as Long Island saw a total of 2,036 new cases.
There are currently 1,334 patients hospitalized with COVID on Long Island, with 26 percent of hospital beds available in Nassau and Suffolk. A total of 614 of 822 ICU beds are occupied, with 24 percent available.

There are now more than 1,500 active COVID-19 cases being monitored in Dutchess County as the Hudson Valley contends with the second wave of the virus.
There were nine new virus-related deaths reported in Dutchess in the past week, as the total rose to 215, while the number of active cases rose from 1,330 to 1,511 as of Monday, Dec. 21, according to the county Department of Health.
Late last month, the county was only monitoring approximately 200 active cases.

There have been nearly 300 new positive COVID-19 cases reported last week in Putnam, bringing the total to more than 2,700, with four new hospitalizations, according to the county's Department of Health.
A total of 82,446 COVID tests have been administered in Putnam County, which have resulted in 2,465 positive cases (279 new), the Department of Health reported in its latest breakdown of the numbers.
There have been 64 COVID deaths in Putnam since the outbreak began nine months ago.

There were no new COVID-19-related deaths reported in Ulster or Sullivan County, though the number of active cases in the region continues to climb.
In Ulster County, the state Department of Health was reporting that there were 49 new cases reported, with 25 in Sullivan County in the past 24 hours as the second wave of the virus sweeps through the Hudson Valley.
There are now 835 active COVID-19 cases in Ulster, up from 656 a week ago, with 131 in Sullivan, up from 100.

Long Island saw another new increase in the positivity rate for COVID-19 testing, according to data released on Monday, Nov. 16.
In Suffolk County, the state Department of Health reported 345 new cases on Sunday, Nov. 15 with another 295 in Nassau County.

An Election Day poll worker in Dutchess County tested positive for COVID-19, officials announced Thursday evening, Nov. 5.
The person worked at the East Fishkill Community Center at 890 Route 82 in Hopewell Junction on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, Dutchess County Department of Behavioral and Community Health Commissioner Dr. Anil Vaidian said.
