Naughty East Haven Drivers Could Get Gift Cards Instead Of Tickets
Police in six Connecticut towns are saying “Bah humbug” to boring traffic stops. This holiday season, drivers might find themselves on the “nice” list and getting a gift card instead of a ticket.
Officers from the South-Central Connecticut Traffic Unit, which serves East Haven, North Branford, North Haven, Branford, Guilford, and Madison, are adding a festive twist to their traffic stops for minor infractions.

Family Fun Day Honoring Jersey City Public Safety Workers Coming Saturday
Jersey City officials invited the public to celebrate the first annual Public Safety Appreciation Day, honoring the more than 2,000 firefighters, 911 dispatchers, police, crossing guards and others who keep the public safe.
The event will be held at Caven Point Fields, 1 Chapel Ave., from noon to 4 p.m. Rain date is Sunday.
There will be a family barbecue, music, giveaways and games including an obstacle course. The day’s activities start with a “battle of the badges” softball game between members of the Jersey City police and fire departments.

Cardone Says Ex-Monroe Supervisor Must Return All Stolen Office Furniture
Tony Cardone, Monroe's new town supervisor, is getting to work at a banquet table because he doesn't want the "bad karma," left behind by the former supervisor Harley Doles, who stole all of the office furniture when he left office, Cardone said.
Friday, the new supervisor, who has been a council member for two years, said he was greeted on his first day with an empty office when he walked through the doors.
"He stole everything," Cardone said of Doles, who claims the furniture was his but has since returned everything except for an end table and a coffee table.
