Several potholes and repairs across Long Island led to traffic jams and flat tires on Friday, March 6, including one gap on the Sunken Meadow State Parkway that forced numerous drivers to pull over. A 28-year-old Fort Lee man is facing multiple charges following a hit-and-run accident that left a teenager seriously injured last month, authorities said. Hugo R. Paz-Lajuj was identified as the driver who struck the 17-year-old boy on Oct. 14 around 6:40 a.m., at Brinkerhoff Avenue near 14th Street in Palisades Park, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. A Rosenhayn man who owned a car repair business was killed in a crash in Cumberland County, authorities said. Andrew Panichelli, 34, died in the Upper Deerfield Township crash on Friday, Nov. 8, a state police spokesperson said. Troopers responded to County Route 611 near milepost 1.45 at around 12:31 a.m. Investigators said Panichelli was driving a Lexus north when he lost control of the car and crossed the center line. Justin Gary Ricciardi of Vineland died following a crash on Jan. 27, according to an obituary published by DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home. He was 43 years old. An avid motorcyclist often found mud-running with friends, Justin was a great cook and loved teaching his 7-year-old daughter, Natalia, how to make pizza pies and cakes, his obituary said.
