Unilever is saying goodbye to ice cream, and thousands of employees. The global consumer goods company is cutting 7,500 roles worldwide as part of its new "productivity program," the company announced Tuesday, March 19. Many say the move is a cold one, as for the first time since 1922, Unilever is leaving the ice cream business. Robbery Spree: Man Targets Businesses In Capital Region For Quick Cash, Police Say
A man is behind bars in connection with a string of robberies targeting businesses in the region. Police in Saratoga County were initially called Sunday evening, Sept. 3, for a robbery in Saratoga Springs at the Ben & Jerry’s on Phila Street, according to police. Investigators said 40-year-old Daniel McKay, of Amsterdam in Montgomery County, walked in and told an employee he was robbing the store. He implied that he had a gun but did not show any weapon. A night out in Montgomery County ended in tragedy for a Silver Spring family whose patriarch was gunned down in the stairwell of a downtown parking garage. Charles Reynolds, 62, of Silver Spring, has been identified as the victim who was found shot and killed with multiple gunshots at approximately 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 21 in the Wayne Avenue Parking Garage.
