Suspect Charged With Machete Attacks On Pennypack Park Trail: Philly Police
Authorities have arrested the man who they said attacked parkgoers with a machete in Northeast Philadelphia.
Elias Diaz, 46, is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and related counts, city police said. He was taken into custody near Pennypack Park Trail, where the attacks took place, on Sunday, Dec. 17, the department wrote in a release.
The first incident happened around 8:15 a.m. on Nov. 22, authorities said previously. When a jogger announced he was approaching from behind, police said Diaz "became enraged" and took out a large knife or machete.

Two Men Arrested For Shooting At Each Other: Bayonne PD
Jancarlos Rivera, an 18-year-old Bayonne resident and James Parks, a 22-year-old Bayonne resident were arrested and charged on Tuesday, Oct. 17 after shooting at each other on Monday, Oct. 16, police said.
At 8:40 p.m., Parks and Rivera were in the area of East 25th Street and Broadway when they encountered each other, police said. Upon seeing each other, Rivera brandished a firearm and fired multiple shots Parks, causing Parks to return fire, police said. Police said vehicles in the area sustained damages from gunshots.

Convenience Store Shooting: Suspect Used Long Island Worker As Shield, Police Say
At least three people were injured in a weekend shooting that involved six at a Long Island convenience store, police said.
It happened on Saturday, July 22 in New Cassel, according to Nassau County Police.
At approximately 10 p.m., a group of five people entered the AAWA convenience store, located at 815 Prospect Avenue.
The group, which included Christian Romulus and Bryan Eric Toney, both aged 19, approached 20-year-old Gavin Freeman, who was already inside the store.

John Andrew Young, 59, of Montour County, is charged with three counts of attempted murder, making terroristic threats, and related offenses, state court records show.
