Coastal Flood Warning In Effect For Jersey Shore Due To Offshore Storm, Full Moon
Many parts of New Jersey are under a coastal flood warning with an offshore storm and a full moon expected to fuel high tides, forecasters said.
The National Weather Service issued the coastal flood warning in Atlantic, Burlington, Cape May, Middlesex, Monmouth, and Ocean counties at 6 a.m. on Monday, Mar. 25. The NWS said the warning would be in effect until 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Mar. 26.
A storm out in the Atlantic Ocean will increase offshore wind speeds and make waves larger, according to the NWS. That will combine with Monday night's full moon to create "widespread tidal flooding."

A sailor who hails from New York has done what only a small number of people have done — sailed around the world solo.
Twenty-nine-year-old Cole Brauer has made history.
The Long Island sailor, who grew up in Springs, East Hampton, became the first American woman to race solo nonstop around the world on Thursday, March 7.
She placed second in the Global Solo Challenge, which a total of 16 avid sailors signed up to compete in, after launching off from A Coruña, Spain on October 29, 2023.

Another Massive Shark Tracked Off Maryland Coast — This One 1,600 Pounds
A 1,600-pound shark was tracked off the Maryland coast on Friday, July 1.
Scot, a 12-foot-long white shark, was "pinged" in the southern portion of Ocean City around 9 a.m., according to shark research group OCEARCH.
A "ping" happens when an animal tag breaks the surface of the water, sending data.
Last week, an 883-pound white shark named Freya pinged in the area.
Scot was tagged by researchers last September in Nova Scotia. Since then, he's swam all the way to the Gulf of Mexico and back up the East Coast.
