13 PA Residents Arrested In 'Elaborate' Cockfighting Ring Busted In New Jersey
More than 50 people were arrested after police broke up a large cockfighting ring in Atlantic County, authorities said. Galloway Township police executed a search warrant at a home on the 300 block of South Bremen Avenue on Saturday, Mar. 9, the department said in a news release. When officers arrived, a large group of people were there and many tried to run away before they were detained. Investigators found an "elaborate cockfighting operation" that included a fighting ring, seating for spectators, and several cockfighting kits. CASE: Philly Man Found Shot, Wrapped In Sleeping Bag In Lehigh Valley Creek
Over half a century after his body was found in Slatington, state police continue to investigate the death of Richard Stewart Wimbish. The 49-year-old was found shot to death and wrapped in a sleeping bag in Trout Creek on Jan. 13, 1973, troopers say. Wimbish was last seen alive leaving work on Dec. 29, 1972, authorities said. He was employed by the Pennsylvania Trucking Company located at 49th Street and Parkside Avenue in West Philadelphia. His regular delivery route saw him travel as far north as Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, and Stroudsburg, police said. …

UPDATE: The second of two brothers who pleaded guilty in the largest drug bust in Atlantic County history -- 45 pounds of heroin, fentanyl and cocaine combined -- was the first to be sentenced. Fourteen years was the best that Ricardo Clavijo, 42, of Egg Harbor Township could get from a plea deal with the federal government. A 42-year-old man from Philadelphia has been sentenced to 20 years in New Jersey State Prison for a fatal shooting, authorities said. Teddy Smith was sentenced for the aggravated manslaughter of a 25-year-old Pleasantville man, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office. A convicted child porn collector from Atlantic City is headed back to federal prison for at least 10 years for doing it again, authorities said. Cory Newman, 46, previously served most of a 51-month sentence following a 2007 conviction on similar charges, records show. A dealer who had more than 45 combined pounds of heroin, fentanyl and cocaine seized from his home in the largest drug bust in Atlantic County history will head to federal prison later this year, authorities said. Ricardo Clavijo, 40, and his brother, Christopher Gonzalez of Pleasantville, were arrested last summer when nearly 24 pounds of cocaine, 12 pounds of fentanyl and 9½ pounds of heroin were found in Calvijo's basement during a DEA-led raid of his Egg Harbor Township home. A Pottstown man was arrested for straw purchasing and illegally reselling more than a dozen firearms over a period of six years, authorities said. Johnny Fowler, 28, was charged with multiple felony counts of unlawful transfer of a firearm, corrupt organizations, dealing in proceeds of unlawful activities, criminal use of communications facilities, unsworn falsification, and related offenses, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office. Authorities have identified the 41-year-old man who was shot and killed in South Jersey. Police received a shot spotter call in connection with the incident at 914 North Main St. in Pleasantville, at 9:19 a.m. Saturday. Couple Arrested In Northampton For Fatally Shooting Atlantic City Teenager
A man and woman have been indicted in connection with the execution-style shooting of a 17-year-old-in Atlantic City, authorities aid. Lewis Johnson, 31, of Newark and Shaquana Lewis 35, of Pleasantville, were arrested in June and charged with killing a teenager.
