Pennsylvania native and famed Princeton University basketball coach Pete Carril has died at the age of 92, his family announced. "The Carril family is sad to report that Coach Peter J. Carril passed away peacefully this morning," they said in a statement released by the school on Monday, Aug. 15. Niche has released its 2022 rankings of the best colleges in Pennsylvania. The University of Pennsylvania was ranked first among the top 10 in the state. Lehigh Valley Native, Beloved Chef Charisha Davis-Nickens Dies Suddenly At Age 36
Lehigh Valley native and beloved chef Charisha Davis-Nickens died suddenly on Dec. 16 at the age of 36. Davis-Nickens attended Easton Area High School and studied early childhood education at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, her social media pages say. Davis-Nickens then worked as a chef at several establishments, including Lafayette College, Perkins and Mike’s Old School Sandwich Shoppe in Easton, as well as PFT in Phillipsburg. Knife-Wielding Man Invades Home On Lafayette College Property
A man wielding a knife invaded a home on Lafayette College property in Easton early Monday morning, reports say. The intruder was wearing shorts and a t-shirt when he fled a home on the 400 block of McCartney Street shortly before 4 a.m., LehighValleyLive reports citing college President Alison Byerly. The college’s alarm system made the loudspeaker announcement around 4:30 a.m. after the initial investigation, which was assisted by Easton Police, the report says. Easton Native, Wilson High School Grad Michael Connor Dies, 32
Northampton County native, salesman and college mentor Michael Patrick Connor died Dec. 19. He was 32 years old. Born in Easton, Connor graduated from Wilson High School in 2006 before attending Northampton Community College and East Stroudsburg University, his obituary says. Connor earned a Master’s Degree from Lehigh University in 2017 and later worked as a frontend manager for Save-A-Lot, his memorial says.
