'We'll Never Forget This': Record-Breaking Perch Caught In Chester County
A 19-year-old from Berks County set a new state record when he caught a 2-pound, 1-ounce white perch in the Delaware River. The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission said Christopher Barrett's catch topped the previous state record for white perch, set in 2008. Barrett and his dad Craig, both of Mohnton, set out in a 20-foot center console fishing boat from the Ridley Township Municipal Marina on April 14 and headed up the river, officials said in a release. Crash On Commodore Barry Bridge Closes All Lanes
All lanes were closed on the Commodore Barry Bridge due to a crash on Thursday evening, Oct. 26. According to the NJDOT website, it happened in the westbound lanes of the New Jersey side in Logan Township. The bridge was closed into Chester, PA, the DOT said.

A deadly crash involving a tractor-trailer and a sedan has closed a portion of Route 291 Friday, May 6, authorities said. Officers were called to the multi-vehicle crash near Jeffrey Street and the Commodore Barry Bridge in Chester around 7:30 a.m., Chester City Police Captain Matthew Goldschmidt said. A man accused of firing a gun inside his Delaware County home was in custody after leading police on a multi-state pursuit over the weekend, 6abc Action News reports. The man reportedly fired a shot inside of his house during a dispute with his wife on Springfield Avenue in Ridley Township early Saturday morning, authorities told the news outlet. Drivers who cross any of the eight Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission’s spans between New Jersey and Pennsylvania face two proposed toll increases this year and in 2024, authorities said. The need to hike state bridge tolls is being blamed on lost revenue during the coronavirus pandemic.
