Edward Shawn Monastero, 26, is accused of throwing multiple denominations of money at officers who questioned him about a neighbor’s report of harassment and vandalism on W. Pennsylvania Avenue in Pen Argyl on Tuesday, May 18, Slate Belt Regional Police said.

Monastero then told officers to give the money to the neighbor to pay for the damages, which included a flat tire and heavily scratched paint on the passenger’s side, police said.

While police were inspecting the vehicle, Monastero walked up to an officer and admitted that he caused the damages, authorities said.

Monastero was charged with criminal mischief and is scheduled to appear in court.
