New York Kayaker Mourned After Death During Nor'easter
Memorial services have been scheduled to honor the life of a Westchester County man who died after a powerful Nor'easter rolled in while he was kayaking on the Long Island Sound. Laurence Broderick, age 45, of Scarsdale, was reported overdue by his family on Tuesday, Oct. 26, after he left Hempstead en route to Mamamronek in his kayak at about 9 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 25, authorities reported. Ex-BF Sentenced For Kidnapping Of NY Woman Found Dead In Suitcase
The ex-boyfriend of a 24-year-old Westchester, NY woman whose body was found dead in a suitcase in Connecticut has been sentenced to decades behind bars for his role in her 2019 kidnapping. Javier Enrique Da Silva Rojas, age 25, of Queens, pleaded guilty in White Plains federal court to kidnapping Valerie Reyes in New Rochelle and illegally transporting her to Fairfield County, where her body was found in a suitcase a week later in Greenwich. Acting New York Mets General Manager Zack Scott had been at the Connecticut home of team owner Steve Cohen several hours before he was busted on DWI charges, ESPN reported Wednesday. White Plains police reported finding Scott, 44, asleep at a traffic light in his 2018 Toyota SUV on South Lexington Avenue near the U.S. District Courthouse shortly before 4:30 a.m. Tuesday.
