One fake police officer was driving a dark-colored SUV outfitted with red and blue flashing lights, similar to that of police vehicle lights, when he pulled over a 48-year-old man driving a white, windowless van around 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 26, PA State Police detailed in the release.

While on the shoulder at mile marker 7 on Route 283 West, in Londonderry Township, the robbers forced the man to remove his keys from the ignition — just then, a second dark-colored vehicle pulled up, the police explained.

The first man stood next to the door of the white van, and another phony police officer got out of the second car, and under the pretense of searching the vehicle — took $30,000 from the van, according to PSP.

It is unknown why the van was carrying so much cash.

The police impersonators were wearing hats, blue surgical masks, and gloves, according to the police. Neither man was in a uniform or showed a badge.

Anyone who saw this incident or has information on this situation is asked to call PSP at 717-671-7500.
