In an afternoon press conference on Wednesday, Sept. 6, state and county officials said the search perimeter has been expanded again after the convicted 34-year-old killer was spotted along Chandler Road in Pennsbury Township on Tuesday night.

Authorities also divulged new details in Cavalcante's escape on Thursday, Aug. 31. Acting Prison Warden Howard Holland said the fugitive was seen on camera scaling a wall in an outdoor exercise yard to gain access to the roof and flee.

The focus on Cavalcante's escape over the manhunt during Wednesday's press conference angered some social media users who tuned in to the live stream on the District Attorney's Facebook page.

"Can we focus on where they think he is versus the escape? Can't we worry about escape details later?" opined one area resident.

"Why are we looking backwards right now?" wrote another. "We need to know where he is and what’s being done to capture him at this moment!"

As the search continues, authorities are still asking residents to familiarize themselves with Cavalcante's description and appearance.

Residents should also take care to secure any outbuildings and vehicles, as the fugitive has "clearly already obtained clothing and other supplies" while on the run, PSP Lt. Col. George Bivens said.

Hundreds of state, local, and federal authorities will continue to comb the now-expanded perimeter and residents should expect a large police presence for the duration of the search, Bivens added.

Cavalcante is described as 5 feet tall and 120 pounds with brown eyes and "shaggy black curly hair." He speaks Portuguese and Spanish as well as some English, and is considered "extremely dangerous."

The total reward for information leading to his capture now stands at $20,000, according to state police. To submit a tip, contact the US Marshals at 1-877-WANTED2 or visit usmarshals.gov/tips.
