The unidentified victims were working on the Benjamin Franklin Bridge when they were fatally struck around 9:30 p.m., the outlet says. A 24-year-old man died when he fell onto train tracks at the PATCO station Philadelphia's Center City and was electrocuted overnight, officials said. The man fell onto the tracks at the 8th & Market Street station around 12:40 a.m., and came in contact with the electrified third rail, according to a Delaware River Port Authority spokesperson The man was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Traffic was backed up on the Philadelphia-bound Ben Franklin Bridge after a tractor-trailer overturned, authorities said. The trailer was transporting onions, which were tossed across the highway above the Old City section of Philadelphia, NBCPhiladelphia.com reported. Drivers who cross any of the eight Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission’s spans between New Jersey and Pennsylvania face two proposed toll increases this year and in 2024, authorities said.
