Woman, 21, Charged In SEPTA Driver's Deadly Shooting
The woman accused of killing a SEPTA bus driver on his route Thursday morning, Oct. 26 now faces murder charges, according to authorities. Twenty-one-year-old Zhontay Capers was arrested by plainclothes SEPTA police officers less than a mile from the scene of the shooting, officials said. No weapon was recovered from her person. Two Philadelphia police officers were shot — one fatally — while in the parking garage at the Philadelphia International Airport on Thursday night. Officer Richard Mendez, a 50-year-old with 22 years in the department, was hit multiple times and died from his wounds, PPD brass said at a Friday evening press conference.
