Engaged Couple Dead In Murder-Suicide, Cumberland Co. Coroner Says
The murder-suicide victims found in a Central Pennsylvania home over the weekend have been identified as a recently engaged couple. Timothy Hanford, 49, is believed to have fatally shot his fiance, Carolyn (Hand) Eash, 57, in a home on the 800 block of Grantham Road in Upper Allen Township, Mechanicsburg, before turning the gun on himself, local officials said. Their bodies were found by police performing a welfare check around 5:30 a.m. Saturday, July 1, Upper Allen police said. Autopsies confirmed that both individuals died of gunshot wounds. Christopher R. Pettit Sr., a Fire Police captain with the Perkasie Fire Company, died suddenly on Friday, June 30, his loved ones said in his obituary. He was 55. Pettit, of East Rockhill, had worked in the Fire Police for 15 years, relatives wrote.
