A two-alarm fire at an electric plant substation in Wildwood knocked out power to 24,000 homes and businesses throughout the island on Friday, July 7, authorities said. A 53-year-old man from Pennsylvania drowned while swimming at a Wildwood Crest beach, authorities said. Joel Green of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, was found unresponsice by other swimmers who pulled him from the water about 4 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7, Tuesday Wildwood Crest police said.
