Ramon Garcia, a medical assistant at Carbon Health on The Fairway in Jenkintown, was arrested and charged with aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault, and invasion of privacy on Monday, March 11 after assaulting two patients at the location, Abington police said.
On March 1, a female victim told Abington police that a man identified as Ramon at the Carbon Health Urgent Care told her she had been randomly selected for observation before having her urinate in a cup for a pre-employment drug screening, authorities said.
"Garcia watched the victim pull up her dress and urinate into the cup," police said in a release. "After the sample was taken, Garcia gave the victim his phone number and asked if she would go on a date with him."
On March 10, a different woman told police she'd been inappropriately touched by a man later identified as Garcia during an examination at the same Carbon Health Urgent Care, authorities said.
The victim said that she had gone to the facility for treatment on March 9 when a man named Ramon greeted her at the front desk, identified himself as a nurse, and led her to an examination room, police said.
Garcia instructed the victim to undress then put on latex gloves and conducted a pelvic exam, penetrating her with his fingers. At another point in his encounter with the victim, he helped her take off her pants a second time, and started touching her again.
Garcia moved his head towards her pelvic area, and the victim said “No”, and got dressed. Garcia was making verbal advances as well, asking the victim if she was in a relationship, and if she had any fantasies. Garcia also gave this victim his phone number before she left the office, police said.
On March 11, 2024, Ramon was arrested by Abington detectives while he was working his shift at Carbon Health. Investigation revealed that Garcia was employed at Carbon Health as a medical assistant, and his job description included signing in patients, taking vital signs and, if directed by a physician, to take blood samples.
He would not have been authorized to participate in the undressing of any patients, police said. Garcia was not trained, instructed, nor permitted to conduct examinations or observe urine sample tests such as those that were reported by these victims. Garcia is not a licensed nurse.
The Abington Police Department is actively investigating the possibility that there may be additional victims who have yet to come forward. Garcia has worked at the Abington Township location since July 2023, and it is believed that he may have previously worked at other Carbon Health Urgent Care facilities, possibly in Montgomery Township and Dresher, PA.
