Just before 5 a.m., Pennsylvania state police troopers were dispatched to the Uni-Mart convenience store on PA 115 in Chestnut Hill Township, after employees said a man in a clown mask broke in through the back of the building.

Wielding a samurai sword, the robber forced employees to open the register and robbed the till, according to Trooper Anthony Petroski. He ran through the wooded area at the back of the building and fled the scene, officials added.

The suspect is described as a white man in a clown mask, white T-shirt, gray sweatpants, and black socks, authorities said.

State police are cautioning residents not to approach the clown if spotted. Sightings or relevant information should be reported to PSP Fern Ridge at 570-646-2271.
