State troopers are investigating the murder of a suspected New York City gangster more than 25 years ago. Jia Qiang Li, 27, was found murdered on Jan. 2, 1997, according to Pennsylvania State Police. Charles Sherman was found dead on the east shoulder of Interstate 95 in Middletown on Jan. 25, 1978. He had been shot to death, according to state police investigators. Authorities allege that Sherman — who also went by the aliases Charlie Harris and Sherman Shikie — had deep ties to illegal gambling rackets in Northeast Philadelphia and Bristol. A three-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 sent two Pennsylvania State Police troopers and three young men to area hospitals on New Year's Day. Two Pennsylvania State Troopers and one civilian were struck and killed on Interstate 95 in Philadelphia overnight, authorities said. The crash occurred in the southbound lanes near Broad Street around 12:40 a.m. Monday, March 21, PSP said.
