27 Miles Of I-78 Reopen Almost 8 Hours After Triple Tractor-Trailer Crash A multi-vehicle crash shuttered 27 miles of Interstate 78 for nearly eight hours on Wednesday, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. The crash involving three tractor-trailers and an SUV happened in the eastbound lanes of I-78 at milepost 49, near Route 100, in Upper Macungie Township just before 5:20 a.m. on Oct. 4, authorities said. Multiple fire crews were called to a large truck fire around 10:40 p.m. The smoke could be seen for miles. State police are redirecting traffic. No injuries have been reported.
