Man ID'd After Fatal Tree Fall On House In Cumberland County: Coroner

A 45-year-old Central Pennsylvania man died after a tree fell on his home early Monday morning.

Scott Quickel has been identified as the man killed in this tragic tree fall, the Cumberland County Coroner Charles Hall told Daily Voice.

The tree fell onto a house at 804 Baltimore Pike/US Route 94 in South Middleton Township, Gardeners, at 3:10 a.m. on March 11, according to Cumberland County Emergency Dispatch.

Three people were in the home when the tree came down due to soil loosened by heavy rains followed by strong winds fire officials in the township explained.

Two people escaped before crews arrived but the required extraction and a coroner was called to the scene for Quickel authorities detailed.

US Rt. 94 was closed for several hours due to this fatal incident, but reopened around 7 a.m., according to PennDOT.

It's unclear if the home is a partial or total loss. 

Pennsylvania State Police and the county coroner's office are investigating this deadly incident.
