Three Firefighters Hospitalized In Chester Blaze
Three firefighters were hospitalized after knocking down a Chester fire, authorities said. The blaze on the 1200 block of Baker Street broke out just after 12 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, according to the Chester Bureau of Fire. Two houses were up in flames by the time crews arrived. One of the firefighters became trapped when they partially fell through the first floor, fire officials said. That firefighter was freed by crew members within minutes. Woman Killed In Allentown Apartment Fire: Authorities
A weekend fire in Allentown claimed the life of a 40-year-old woman, authorities said. Jessica Maes died after being pulled from the apartment building blaze on the 800 block of Walnut Street on Saturday, July 16, according to the Lehigh County Coroner's Office. Maes was pronounced dead around 5:50 a.m. at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, officials said. Her cause of death was determined to be the inhalation of combustion products, and her manner of death is still being investigated. A Hackensack smoker on home oxygen suffered burns on her chest and face after her cigarette ignited an apartment fire, authorities said. The 50-something victim was alert when she was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center following Wednesday's mishap at the Quail Heights Apartments on Prospect Avenue, city Fire Capt. A Christmas tree ignited by a lighter likely caused the "fast-moving" Philadelphia rowhouse fire that claimed the lives of 12 people last week, fire officials confirmed Tuesday.
