Man Arrested Following Multi-Hour Standoff In South Whitehall: Police A man is in police custody following a standoff that lasted several hours in a Target parking in South Whitehall, according to township police.  Authorities said officers were dispatched to the Crest Plaza parking lot on North Cedar Crest Boulevard around 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov., 27 for a report of a suicidal man refusing to get out of his vehicle. South Whitehall police called Lehigh County Municipal Emergency Response Team (MERT) crisis negotiator, who eventually convinced the man to stand down, officials said. Over $35,000 had been raised on a GoFundMe campaign for the family of Barry Evans, 30, who was struck around 8:55 p.m. on Sept. 2 while crossing the 1400 Block of North Cedar Crest Boulevard. The Coplay resident was pronounced dead at 9:24 p.m., the Lehigh County Coroner's Office said. Lehigh Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Car In South Whitehall A pedestrian was fatally struck by a car in Lehigh County Thursday night, authorities said. Barry Evans, 30, was struck around 8:55 p.m. in 1400 Block of North Cedar Crest Boulevard in South Whitehall, according to the Lehigh County Coroner's Office. The Coplay resident was pronounced dead by Deputy Coroner Jack Fliter at 9:24 p.m., authorities said.
