Victim In Deadly Allentown Hit-Run Was Beloved Grandfather, Family Says
Authorities in Allentown have named the 85-year-old man who died in a hit-and-run on Union Boulevard on Thursday, Oct. 19. Elian N. Makdsi of Allentown died from blunt force injuries and the manner of death was accidental, said the Lehigh County Coroner's Office. Makdsi was near the crossing with North Jerome Street when he was hit around 8:30 a.m., officials said previously. A 17-year-old was found on a Lancaster city sidewalk on Monday morning and soon died, police announced on Oct. 16. The teenager was spotted by Lancaster City Bureau of Police officers on a routine patrol in the 100 block of North Prince Street at approximately 3:44 a.m. "It was determined the individual was beyond medical help and were pronounced deceased shortly after they were discovered," the police said. Lehigh Valley Man Shot In 'Targeted' Attack, Authorities Say
Easton police are investigating after gunfire rang out on a residential street late on Tuesday, Sept. 26. It happened on the 800 block of Jackson Street around 10:15 p.m., the department said. A 32-year-old man received "survivable injuries" and was taken to an area hospital, according to authorities. Two handguns and "ballistic evidence" were recovered from the scene. The remains of a boy discovered in a West Philadelphia dumpster last week have been identified, according to city police. The boy in the dumpster has been identified as 12-year-old Hezekiah "Hezzy" Bernard, authorities announced on Aug. 31. DNA evidence has linked a Quarryville man to the rape of an 11-year-old girl, police announced on Friday, July 14, 2023. Shane Howe, 27, has been under investigation since the Quarryville police were called to a house in the 300 block of West Stanton Road on Dec. 2 2022, according to the police release. City police are investigating after gunfire rang out on an Allentown street late on Wednesday, June 7, the department said in a release. Officials in Montgomery County are still working to identify the cause of the early morning house fire that killed one man and one woman in Hatfield on Friday, May 12. Coroner IDs Body Pulled From Lehigh Valley Retention Pond
Authorities have identified the body found in a Lehigh Valley retention pond over the weekend. The victim was 75-year-old Phillip Zulauf of Lower Mount Bethel Township, said Northampton County Coroner Zakary Lysek in a statement. His body was recovered from the pond on Sunday, April 9, the coroner added. Zulauf's car and belongings were previously discovered near the small reservoir on Depues Road in Lower Mount Bethel on Friday, March 30, WFMZ reports. The official cause and manner of death are pending further investigation, the coroner's office said.
