Investigation Launched After Inmate Dies In Custody At Bucks Jail: Coroner
A Philadelphia man died while in police custody at the Bucks County Correctional Facility on Monday, Dec.18, authorities revealed. Edward Hatch, a 46-year-old Philadelphia resident, was found unresponsive in his cell early Monday morning, said Coroner Meredith Buck in a release. An autopsy on Tuesday, Dec. 19 "showed no overt evidence of external trauma" and the cause and manner of his death are still under investigation, Buck said. Woman Died In Police Custody From 'Natural' Causes, Bucks Coroner Says
The 48-year-old Philadelphia woman who died at the Bucks County Correctional Facility last month passed from "natural" causes, officials have announced. Melissia Mager of Frankford Avenue died of a perforated duodenal ulcer at a Doylestown Hospital emergency room on March 1, and her autopsy "showed no evidence of external trauma or foul play," said county Coroner Meredith Buck in a statement. Newark police bore no responsibility in the death from heart disease of a 73-year-old man who collapsed in the back seat of a patrol car, a state grand jury has found.
