GIANT recalled its store-brand frozen waffles due to the possibility of Listeria contamination.

9-County Retail Theft Ring Busted: PA Attorney General
Five people involved in a major organized retail theft operation have been charged with targeting stores across nine counties, authorities said.
Marlin Polanco, Malik McDonald, Cartier Hardy, Homario Oldacre, and Lorenzo Walters were charged in Dauphin County with corrupt organizations, organized retail theft, and related crimes, Pennsylvania Attorney General Michelle Henry said on Monday, Aug. 26.
The total value of stolen goods is estimated to be worth more than $71,000, Henry said.

'Despicable' Man Sentenced For Raping Bucks County Teenager: Judge
Calling him “despicable,” a Bucks County judge sentenced a Sellersville man to 12 ½ years to 25 years in Pennsylvania State Prison for the rape of a 15-year-old girl in Quakertown, authorities said.
Miguel Angel Sanchez, 33, was sentenced on Monday, Aug. 26, according to the Bucks County District Attorney.
He entered a no-contest plea on May 20 to numerous counts of rape, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, trafficking in individuals, and related crimes.

Giant Worker In Berks County Embezzled $24,000 From Employer, Police Claim
A grocery store employee in Spring Township is accused of bilking tens of thousands of dollars from her employer, authorities say.
Christina Bortz, 53, is charged with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property, according to court records.
Spring police said Bortz works as the "checkout coach" or accounting employee at Giant and admitted to taking about $24,000 from the company.
Bortz, of Sinking Spring, was released on her own recognizance and is due back for a preliminary hearing on Dec. 26, court records show.

A Maryland-based company announced a recall of kale and other similar products that were shipped up and down parts of the East Coast and could be contaminated with Listeria.
Lancaster Foods is voluntarily recalling three brands of Robinson Fresh, Lancaster, and Giant brand kale, spinach, and collard green products after a random sample tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes by the New York Agriculture and Markets Food Safety Division.
