Firefighters Knock Down South Media House Blaze Several people were hospitalized after a fire broke out in a South Media home Thursday morning, authorities said. Firefighters responded to the 600 Block of Markham Street to find that the blaze had spread to the second floor and left a person trapped, according to Garden City Fire Company. Fire crews were able to knock down the bulk of the fire while local police freed the trapped person, authorities said. Several people with smoke inhalation were taken to a local hospital for treatment, authorities said. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the local fire marshal.
