Chesco Shooting Suspect Nabbed By US Marshals, Authorities Say
A man who is accused of shooting another in the chest in Coatesville last month has been taken into custody by US Marshals, officials say. Matthew Rodgers, 25, was arrested in Downingtown on Thursday, March 23, Pennsylvania State Police announced. Authorities did not say exactly when or where he was apprehended, though court filings show he was arraigned at noon and remanded to the Chester County lockup in lieu of a $1 million bond. Authorities in Caln Township are investigating after a resident was attacked by masked gunmen while standing on his own back patio. It happened at a unit on the 2000 block of Crest Drive at the Hillside Apartments early on Sunday, March 19, township police said in a statement. A Bucks County inmate who was suspected of assault now faces additional charges, after police say he attacked medical personnel. Police in Penndel Borough had already issued an arrest warrant for Alexander R. Werts, 39, when he was spotted at an area shopping plaza on Feb. 20, the department said in a release.
