Pedestrian ID'd After Fatal Hit-Run Strike Near Dutch Wonderland: Coroner
The pedestrian who was fatally struck by a vehicle outside a hotel near multiple amusement parks has been identified by the Lancaster County Coroner on Friday, Aug. 30. John Zimmerman, 72, original of Lititz but recently of Lancaster, died at the scene of the strike at 2270 Lincoln Highway East at Fairfield Inn, according to the coroner. The strike happened around 4:10 a.m. and Zimmerman was pronounced dead at 4:54 a.m., as dispatchers said and as noted in the coroner's release. Dorney Park Operator Cedar Fair To Merge With Six Flags
Cedar Fair, the owner of Allentown's Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom amusement park, will merge with Six Flags, company leaders announced Thursday, Nov. 2. The combined company will operate 42 parks and nine resorts across 17 states as well as Canada and Mexico and is valued at around $8 billion, according to management. Clementon Park & Splashworld Reopening After Foreclosure
It's been a wild ride for Clementon Park & Splashworld, but a smoother path is up ahead. The 114-year-old South Jersey amusement and splash park is reopening on Friday after being closed for nearly two years. The park announced its hours of operation and discounted season ticket prices on its website here. After foreclosure, the 52-acre park was sold to a new owner in March for $2.37 million.
