The Elizabeth R. Martin Elementary School student was shot near their home Wednesday, Principal Tom Mumma explained in an email to staff and families on Thursday afternoon, Nov. 14.
The age and gender of the student were not shared, nor was the location of the shooting. The child is expected to recover, according to Mumma.
The investigation is being conducted by Manheim Township police.
Counselors and social workers are ready to support students who are struggling with the shooting, according to school officials.
