Missing Man Found Dead In Pennsylvania Quarry: Coroner
A man reported missing in late November was found dead in the water of an underground quarry in Slatington, authorities announced on Thursday, Jan. 2.
Jesse James Rutt, 41, was discovered in the quarry on the 300 block of East Church Street and pronounced dead at 11:34 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 30, according to the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office.
Rutt had last been seen on Friday, Nov. 29, 2024, in the Slatington/Walnutport area, wearing a gray jacket and jeans, police said. Known for traveling on foot, he was reported missing after he left home without his wallet or identification.

A Columbia man was killed after being struck by an Amtrak train in West Donegal Township on New Year’s Day, the Lancaster County Coroner announced on Thursday, Jan. 2.
Alex Fitzgibbon, 34, a Mount Joy native, died from multiple traumatic injuries after the incident near the tracks on Wednesday, Jan. 1. He was transported to Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:22 p.m., according to the Lancaster County Coroner's Office. Ryan Quigley, a 2020 Princeton University graduate and former classmate and coworker of Tiger Bech, was injured in the deadly New Orleans pickup truck attack early Wednesday, Jan. 1.
Quigley, a Lansdale Catholic High School graduate from the Class of 2016, was hospitalized following the attack, which claimed at least 15 lives, including Bech’s, in New Orleans’ French Quarter. Quigley and Bech both worked at Seaport Global Holdings LLC, a financial services firm in New York, and had remained close since their time at Princeton.
