Gas Leak Closes Part Of William Penn Highway: Palmer Twp. PD (

A major gas leak prompted evacuations in Palmer Township, authorities said. The incident occurred shortly before noon on Thursday, Aug. 8. Both lanes of travel on William Penn Highway were closed as a result of the leak between Stones Crossing Road and Sheridan Drive, police said. The evacuation covered an area of more than 100 yards, they said. Emergency services and utility company crews were at the scene.

A gas leak has led to an evacuation and traffic being diverted, Lancaster County authorities explained on Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 6. The gas leak happened at the intersection of East Bainbridge and South Spruce in Elizabethtown at 2:25 p.m., according to Lancaster County Wide Communications. Crews are at the scene of a reported gas leak in Doylestown, borough police said Wednesday, July 10. The leak happened in the Doylestown Hunt Estates housing development just before noon, according to authorities. Steeplechase Drive is closed from South Main Street to Birdsong Way while police and firefighters investigate, they added. UPDATE: PECO crews are on the scene repairing the issue and Steeplechase Drive is back open for through traffic, police said Wednesday afternoon.
