Gas Leak Closes Part Of William Penn Highway: Palmer Twp. PD (Developing) A major gas leak prompted evacuations in Palmer Township, authorities said. The incident occurred shortly before noon on Thursday, Aug. 8. Both lanes of travel on William Penn Highway were closed as a result of the leak between Stones Crossing Road and Sheridan Drive, police said. The evacuation covered an area of more than 100 yards, they said. Emergency services and utility company crews were at the scene.

Driver Dies After Palmer Township Crash, Coroner Says One driver died from his injuries after a crash in Palmer Township on Tuesday evening, Jan. 30, officials say.  Joseph R. Hoagland, 68, suffered a medical emergency that led to a wreck in the parking lot of the William Penn Highway Weis, said the Northampton County Coroner's Office.  Hoagland, of Wilson Borough, was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital - Anderson Campus where he passed from blunt force chest injuries on Wednesday, Jan. 31, authorities said.
