Wanted Man Stole Firearm From Poconos Gun Range: Police A man wanted by Easton police is now accused of stealing a handgun from a shooting range in Stroudsburg, according to authorities.  Lawrence J. Handlovic, 34, walked into Pocono Pistol at 85 North 1st Street on July 4, said police.  He rented a 9mm Glock handgun, used the indoor shooting range, then fled with the gun through an emergency exit, according to investigators. Stroudsburg Man Sentenced For 2023 Overdose Death: DA A Stroudsburg man will spend up to a decade in prison for an overdose death last year, a Monroe County Court has ruled.  Edwin Burgos, 39, was sentenced to 4 to 10 years plus 12 years probation, said the Monroe County District Attorney's Office on Tuesday.  Prosecutors said Steven Nitschke was found dead from a fentanyl overdose in his Stroud Township apartment on March 18, 2023. Northeastern PA Woman Missing, Police Say (Updated) Update: The subject of this report has been located safely, SARPD said Wednesday, April 24.  Stroud Area Regional Police are looking for a missing woman.  Lisa Ann DiGiovanni, 49, was last seen in Stroud Township around 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20, authorities said.  She is 5 feet and 115 pounds and was last seen wearing a black jacket with white fur trim, blue jeans, and hoop earrings, according to police. She drives a white 2013 Hyundai Elantra sedan with Pennsylvania tag number MGZ-2595.  Anyone with information is being asked to submit a tip online.

Driver Sought For Hit-Run In East Stroudsburg Parking Lot, Police Say Stroud Area Regional Police are searching for a suspected hit-and-run driver.  Authorities believe the pictured woman was involved in a hit-and-run in the East Stroudsburg Walmart parking lot on Thursday, April 11.  The crash happened around 2:30 p.m., police said.  Anyone who can identify her is asked to submit a tip to SARPD at the Monroe County CrimeWatch website.

Missing Mom Found Dead Off Route 80 In PA The human remains discovered in a wooded area off of Interstate 80 in Monroe County last week have been identified as belonging to a missing Stroudsburg woman, authorities have confirmed.  Dana Kristine Smithers, who was last seen nearly a year ago, was found near the Park Avenue/I-80 East on-ramp on Friday, April 28, Stroud Area Regional Police wrote in a release.  Smithers, who was 46, was identified via dental records, authorities said. New Jersey State Police began pursuing a silver Dodge Ram driven by Steven R. Wilson, 51, of Allentown, around 8 p.m. on Route 46 and the westbound side of Route 80 through Warren County, Pennsylvania State Police said.
