Joe Bryant, the former Philadelphia 76ers forward and father of Kobe Bryant, died Tuesday, July 16, the New York Times reports. He was 69 years old. Nicknamed "Jellybean," Bryant was a Philadelphia native and La Salle University alumnus who spent four years with the Sixers from 1975 to 1979, including their 1977 championship bid. Philadelphia Man Attacked By Pack Of Pitbulls Dies
A Philadelphia man attacked by a pack of pitbulls in October has died, his family said. Antonio Shaw's sister, Sharese, tells 6abc that he had mistakenly gone to the wrong house on North 62nd Street on Oct. 4, when he was attacked. Sharese noted the dogs were "vicious and hungry" and were "eating him like a piece of steak." According to a GoFundMe page launched by Sharese, 63-year-old Antonio had one of his legs amputated and suffered two strokes following his attack. The assistant coach of Penn State University York Men's soccer team had a stroke after riding "a local rollercoaster" his family says. More than two weeks after suffering a stroke in the line of duty, a Montgomery County first responder has died, officials announced. Jay Miles, an emergency medical technician with the Upper Perkiomen Valley Ambulance service and Chaplain in the Pennsburg Volunteer Fire Company, passed away on April 1, his colleagues announced in a statement.
