Former Darby Police Corporal Tom Takacs Sr., 53, Dies, Department Says A former police corporal has died, the Darby Borough Police announced on Monday, July 29.  Retired Darby Borough K9 Police Officer Thomas "Tom" Takacs Sr., 53, of Upper Chichester (formerly of Norwood and Tinicum) passed Friday, July 26, 2024, at home, according to his obituary posted by the Marvil Funeral Home. Tom "retired in 2009 after 10 years of service," as written in his obituary. Before he was a police officer, Tom was a K-9 officer at the George W. Former Penn Basketball Player Cameron Gunter Dies, 31 Former University of Pennsylvania basketball player Cameron Gunter died on Thursday, Jan. 19, the team announced on Twitter. He was 31 years old. Cameron graduated from Ridley High School (Class of 2014), and went on to play for the Penn basketball team while earning his degree in communications and commerce. The 6-foot-9 forward played in 91 games at Penn and had a career-high of 12 points in 15 minutes of action during a loss against Harvard, according to a report by The Daily Pennsylvanian. DEA, Police Investigate Murder Victim Dumped On Delco Street Investigators believe the man found dead with multiple stab wounds on a Delaware County side street earlier this month was murdered elsewhere and then dumped there.  Police in Norwood were called to Darby Crescent Road just before 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9, the department said in a release. There, officers found the body of a man killed "under suspicious circumstances," they said.  Authorities later identified the body as 24-year-old Jimmy Reynolds Jr., of Philadelphia, Norwood police said. PD: DelCo Man Arrested For Swiping Copper Piping From Medical Facility Under Construction A 57-year-old Delaware County man was arrested for stealing over 300 pounds of copper piping and telephone wiring worth $10,000 from a medical facility under construction in Radnor Township, authorities said. On two separate occasions in May, Robert J. Garraty, of Norwood entered the building in the Wayne section of the township and stole the copper piping and telephone wiring which he later sold, according to the Radnor Township Police Department.
