Police: Sex-Crazed Fanboy Gropes, Grabs, Chases Male DPW Worker
A DPW worker was on the job in Maywood late last week when a driver pulled up and shouted that he wanted to have sex with him, authorities said. Weird, for sure. But it didn't end there. The driver -- identified as Jose Mauricio CardozaRivera, 46 -- had been accused of grabbing a boy the day before in Little Ferry. The Maywood DPW worker told police on Thursday that CarodozaRivera got out and grabbed him by the arm, trying to pull him into his car. He said he shook loose and retreated to his truck, but CardozaRivera opened the door and climbed in. The worker bolted out the driver's …

Accused Police Imposters From Jersey Shore Charged In Botched Bergen County Kidnapping
It took over a year and a half, but relentless detective work aided by modern tech produced the arrests of two accused police imposters from the Jersey Shore who authorities said tried to abduct an East Rutherford man from outside his home. Anthony Naso of Seaside Heights, Nicholas Polimeni of Toms River and an unidentified accomplice were all wearing bogus police badges when they rushed the victim on Sept. 11, 2020, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. The victim told police he'd just returned to his Lincoln Place home shortly before 10 p.m. when the trio “grabbed him on his stairca…

Doc's Office Manager, BF Got 4,000 Percocet Using Stolen Scripts, Wayne Police Charge
The manager of a North Jersey doctor’s office stole prescription pads that she and her boyfriend used to collect more than 4,000 Percocet from local drugstores, authorities said. Detectives from the Wayne Police Special Operations Unit zeroed in on Luz Valle, 53, and Javier Sanchez, 48, both of Paterson, after the doctor alerted them to “someone illegally passing prescriptions in the doctor’s name at multiple pharmacies,” Detective Capt. Dan Daly said. Detective Sgt. James Celentano and Detective Nick Pepe obtained multiple subpoenas and interviewed several people as part of a seven-month i…

Detectives Turn Tables On Scammers Who Thought They'd Conned Bergen County Grandma
GOTCHA! Two gutless 20-year-olds from the Bronx thought they'd conned a Woodcliff Lake woman out of $6,000 with the "grandson in trouble" scam -- only they ended up being the ones who got punked. A caller claiming to be her grandson told the intended victim that he'd been arrested and needed bail money, WCL Police Lt. Chad Malloy said. The caller gave the grandmother the name and number of someone who he said was an attorney. That person would come to her house and collect the $6,000 from her, then bring it to court to secure his release, he told her. Grandma knew better, though. She went …

Broad-Daylight Mugging Of Woman Outside Englewood Cafe Solved By Sharp-Eyed Detective
GOTCHA! A fresh eye cracked the mugging of a woman who got into a fierce broad-daylight struggle with a robber outside an Englewood cafe over a year ago, authorities announced. Surveillance images show the suspect cruising the area on a bicycle before donning a face mask, pulling up a hood and riding up to the woman, who was having cake and coffee outside Dulce Le Leche on busy West Palisade Avenue in early November 2020. The would-be robber tried snatching the woman's wallet, but he didn't know what he was in for: She wasn't giving it up that easily, Detective Lt. Fred Pulice said. The wa…

: 'Grandson In Trouble' Ringleader Busted, Passaic County Authorities Say
You’ve probably heard of them, the heartless con artists who call elderly victims pretending to be a grandson or other young relative needing bail money right now. Authorities in Passaic County say they’ve nabbed one – a big one. Raymond Jacquez, 26, led a network of scammers who convinced victims they were a relative who’d been arrested or a lawyer working for that person, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said. The victims were urged to wire money to a bank account in Paterson so the relative could post bail, she said. Senior victims in Florida, Maryland, Vermont and Washington…

Hackensack detectives found a Philadelphia couple carrying a stolen handgun and drugs during a traffic stop, authorities said. Narcotics Squad Detectives Kley Peralta and Reuven Lyak stopped the 2015 Acura sedan at the intersection of River and Kansas streets for equipment violations shortly before 7:30 p.m. Monday, Detective Capt.
