A Pennsylvania man has been convicted of conspiring to kill multiple New Jersey government officials in a murder-for-hire plot, New Jersey Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin announced on Wednesday, Aug. 27.
Stephen Smink, 62, of Philadelphia, was found guilty on Friday, Aug. 15, 2025, of conspiracy to commit murder, five counts of attempted murder, conspiracy to transport weapons, and transporting weapons after a trial in Atlantic County.

NJ Woman Tried Hiring Hitman To Kill Philly Cop, 19-Year-Old Daughter: Prosecutor
A 26-year-old Camden County woman is facing attempted murder charges after she allegedly tried to hire someone to kill her ex-boyfriend and his daughter, authorities said.
Jaclyn Diiorio, of Runnemede, was arrested on Friday, April 4, in Gloucester Township, immediately after she tried to pay a confidential informant $12,000 to kill her ex—who is a 53-year-old officer with the Philadelphia Police Department—and his 19-year-old daughter, according to Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Gloucester Township Police Chief David Harkins.

Two Men Charged With Attempted Murder In Eastern PA Shooting: DA
Two men have been charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting a man in Allentown, District Attorney Gavin P. Holihan and Allentown Police Chief Charles Roca announced on Thursday, Nov. 28.
Christopher Joel Colon, 32, and John Brace, 32, both of Allentown, are accused of shooting Jorge Alicea Jr. multiple times around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, on the 400 block of North Jordan Street, according to authorities.
Alicea Jr. was found with multiple gunshot wounds and rushed into surgery by Allentown EMS, police said.

Pair Arrested In Fatal Shooting In Cumberland County: Prosecutor
Two men have been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Millville last month, authorities said.
Maurice L. Jones, 30, of Vineland and Edwin I. Torres, 31, of Philadelphia, were charged with conspiracy to commit murder and weapons offenses, according to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae.
On Feb. 17, Millville police responded to 4 th and E Street for reports of shots fired.
Police found Lamont O. Jones Jr., 34, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest. He was pronounced dead shortly thereafter at Cooper Hospital, the prosecutor said.

Jyheir Mosley-Williams, 18, was arrested Wednesday, May 4 on charges of murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and gun offenses in the Wednesday, March 16 shooting death of Jacoby Strain-Hankerson, Harrisburg police said.
