The official cause of death has been released for the teenage son of a former Major League Baseball star who died while on a family vacation.
Miller Gardner, age 14, the youngest son of Brett Gardner, an outfielder who spent his entire 14-year career with the New York Yankees, and his wife, Jessica, died in his sleep on Friday, March 21.
The Gardners released a statement through the team revealing that Miller succumbed to an illness after he became sick while the family was on vacation in Central America at a hotel in Costa Rica.

The woman who died following a "medical emergency" at the Elizabethtown Fair on Tuesday, August 20 has been identified by the Lancaster County Coroner's Office.
Michele Rhodes, 55, of Akron, PA, and originally from Mount Holly, NJ, choked to death at the Elizabethtown Fair, Chief Deputy Coroner Eric Bieber explained and as detailed in her obituary posted by Roseboro Stradling Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Denver.

A one-time director of Doylestown Hospital pleaded guilty to embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars on Monday, April 15, according to the Bucks County District Attorney's Office.
Norma Galagarza, 68, of Chalfont, was previously accused of siphoning over $600,000 from a corporate account filled with charitable donations, Daily Voice reported.
On Monday, she entered an open guilty plea to felony counts of theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception, forgery, access device fraud, and computer trespass, the DA's Office said.

An ex-Doylestown Hospital director is accused of siphoning over $600,000 from a corporate account filled with charitable donations, according to prosecutors.
Norma Galagarza, 68, of Chalfont, is charged with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, forgery, and related counts, said the Bucks District Attorney's Office.
