Mark Volman, the exuberant, wild-haired frontman whose voice helped make “Happy Together” a pop anthem, has died.
The dynamic singer, guitarist, and charismatic co-founder of The Turtles leaves behind a legacy as colorful as his stage presence.
Volman's death came on Friday, Sept. 5, in Nashville, Tennessee, following what his representative described as a brief and unexpected illness. He was 78.
Born in Los Angeles in1947, Volman grew up first found his musical footing with The Crossfires, a surf-rock group that evolved into The Turtles.

Bruce Springsteen Announces New Dates For Canceled Philly Shows
The City of Brotherly Love will have to wait to meet face-to-face with the Boss.
Bruce Springsteen postponed two scheduled concert dates at Citizens Bank Park on Aug. 16 and 18 due to "illness," the singer's team previously announced in a social media post.
The nixed shows have been rescheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2024, and Friday, Aug. 23, 2024.
Tickets for the canceled concerts will still be honored, according to the singer's website.
