Lehigh County Man Struck, Killed By Train Remembered For His Love For All
The 26-year-old man struck and killed by a train in Lehigh County is being remembered for his love for everyone. Angel Luis Rivera Jr. of Alburtis died at about 9:50 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 25 after being struck by the train, according to Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio. The accident occurred near North Main Street and West Penn Avenue in Alburtis, Angel's brother, Genesis Quinones of Allentown, organized a GoFundMe. An Amish great-grandfather caused the crash that ended his life, East Earl Township explained in a release on Wednesday, Aug. 28. Levi R. Stoltzfus, 81, of Narvon, was driving the buggy east at the intersection of Sheep Hill Road and Springville Road in East Earl Township when he "failed to stop for the stop sign at Springville Road (PA route 897)," police said. A 50-year-old woman from Bern Township has been charged with animal cruelty after 51 cats and dogs were found at her home in poor condition, authorities said. Jennifer May Ayala was charged by Humane Police Officer R. Harnish from the Department of Animal Protection at the Animal Rescue League of Berks County. Six Partiers Rescued From Sinking Boat Along Schuylkill River: Coast Guard
Six partiers were rescued from a sinking 20-foot boat on the Schuylkill River in Southeast Philadelphia, authorities said. At about 12:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, first responders got a call from one of the boaters who said their vessel was taking on water at the Platt Bridge, the U.S. Coast Guard reported. The Philadelphia Fire Department's marine unit was able to pull alongside the boat and rescue its occupants, the Coast Guard said.
