The potential tropical cyclone is expected to bring strong gusts of wind, periods of rain, and "moderate to major" coastal flooding from 4 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, to 10 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, according to the NWS Mount Holly station.
The brunt of the storm is expected to affect coastal areas, but southeast Pennsylvanians should expect up to 2.75 inches of rainfall over the weekend, and gusts of wind up to 35 mph on Saturday, meteorologists said.
A number of local events have been postponed or canceled as a result:
East Landsdowne Community Day is to be rescheduled at a later date.
The Berks Summer Fest in Reading will now take place only from 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday.
- The 6th Ward Block Party in Reading has been rescheduled to next Saturday, Sept. 30.
- The Showing of the Tartan Parade for the Bethlehem Celtic Classic is canceled.
- Cradle to Crayons of Philadelphia's Delaware County BIG GIVE is postponed to Sept. 30.
- The New Hope Arts and Crafts Festival has been canceled.
- The 7th Annual South Philly Sausage Fest has been canceled.
- The Longwood Gardens Wine and Jazz Festival has been canceled.
NWS Mount Holly is also advising area residents to prepare for the storm.
Loose outdoor items like trampolines, patio furniture, and trash cans should be secured, and drivers should use caution when operating in high winds, especially in high-profile vehicles, meteorologists said.
Boaters and swimmers should avoid the surf, and residents who live in low-lying areas or in places prone to coastal flooding should move vehicles and other belongings to higher ground, they added.
